Koi are such bright and colorful fish and watching them swimming is always a special meditative experience. Each Koi is so unique with different shades of orange and gold. Koi also remind me of my childhood because I remember going to the park and getting a quarter from my parents to get a handful of fish food and throw it in the water at once.
The experience of seeing the colorful fish all come at once for a bite to eat was magical. I hope to recreate a spark of that magic and meditative awe in this painting.
